Jolanda Gsponer has been active in the music business since 1988. At first she worked at the shop of the Rec Rec Cooperative, in 1994 she was a co-founder of Karbon and after 2000 she had sole charge of the shop Karbonmusik. Records stocked were predominantly in the field of contemporary, electroacoustic and improvised music. To give innovative and experimental music a forum and make it accessible to a wider public she extended this field continuously through broadcasts at Radio LORA, concerts and label presentations. Besides these activities she was a member of the organizing group Fabrikjazz/Taktlos Zurich (1994-97) and secretary of the IGNM Zurich (International Society for Contemporary Music) from 1997 to 2005. She still organizes the concert series „Spezialkonzerte“ at the WIM (Workshop for Improvised Music) Zurich. Since 2006 she has been responsible for the ICST-Sound Archive, as well as the library.
